Design a Unique Glass Plate Logo in Photoshop

12-29-07Category Filed under Designing & Photoshop Tutorials

Step 1:
Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 28×28 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and white background. Then on your tools palette set the foreground color to #0F6487 and make a new layer set by going to Select > New > Layer Set, name it Angle. Now choose your Pen Tool and activate paths, in a layer draw the angle shape shown on the picture below.

Step 2:
Go to Layer > Layer Style then add an Inner Shadow, Gradient Overlay and Stroke to your angle layer from step one.

Step 3:
Create a new layer( Layer > New > Layer) and draw the shape on the bottom side shown below.

Step 4:
Go to Layer > Layer Style then add an Inner Glow, Gradient Overlay and Stroke blending options to your bottom shape layer.

Step 5:
Now add the exact shape design mirrored from the original, do this by duplicating your ‘Angle’ layer set( Layer > Duplicate Layer Set). Then flip the whole design by going to Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal. Position the new copy as shown below.

Note: Make sure you highlight your ‘Angle’ layer set on the Layers Palette when duplicating through Layer > Duplicate Layer Set.

Step 6:
Now place all your layers from the ‘Angle’ copy layer set into the first ‘Angle’ layer set. We dont need two seperate Layer Sets.

Step 7:
Create a new layer( Layer > New > Layer) and draw the last shape of this design shown below. This will be the shadow once the layer styles are added.

Step 8:
Go to Layer > Layer Style then add a Gradient Overlay blending option to your shape layer from the last step.

Step 9:
Now duplicate your shape layer from step 7 and 8. Flip horizontal and position on the second design.

Step 10:
Merge your ‘Angle’ layer set( Layer > Merge Layer Set). You should end up with one layer, duplicate that one layer with the design an go o to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate. The copy should turn black and white, go to Image > Adjustments > Color Balance. This part is custom, you can add your own colors through the setting, on this tutorial we have a unique dark green color. Now Resize the copy by a little through Edit > Transform > Scale.

Step 11:
Select your Horizontal Type Tool and above your screen under the options palette set the font family to Arial Black, regular, 72 pt, crisp, #FF0000 and 0F6487 for colors. Type your name.

Step 12:
Go to Layer > Layer Style then add an Inner Glow, Gradient Overlay and Stroke to your text layer.

    i loved this effect, nice contrast and clean, but the saw a mistake in the directions- in layer styles, it says to change the inner shadow, instead of inner glow;
