  3. JRJ Says:

You dont ever tell if the layers are supposed to be merged or not, that confuses me a lot.

    Exept… ok tutorial.

  4. tbew Says:

thank you so much very nice

  5. serena Says:

There is no layer style called “Darken Hard Light”. Only “darken” or “hard light”. Can’t choose two. where did you get that from?

  6. DTT Says:

    Totally unfollowable tutorial…

  7. Mina Says:

apart from my ps crashing every time i tried ..

  8. daniel Says:

Really nice, but you could have been more specific :p

  9. Dylan Says:

My Photoshop (CS4) doesn’t have the pattern you used. Anywhere to download it?

  10. TheNightMare Says:

I say same as serena + the outcome doesn’t work for all words…

  11. Julian Says:

The tutorial does need to be tweaked a bit in order to better communicate the individual steps.

At least the .PSD file is available; you can use it to reverse engineer the process.

    Cool effect. Bad directions.

  13. Tigerclaw Says:

I’m stuck on Step 5. “Remove the selection and apply a motion blur through Filter > Blur > Motion Blur. Set the angle to 0 and distance to 102 pixels.”

How do I remove the selection, I think this part is what messes me up because i went forward with the tutorial but it doesn’t come out right.

cool effect bro not exactly accurate, mine looked differnt to urs. email me at alfa6881@hotmail.com i dont have the pattern on step 6

  17. Jrock Says:

Those with CS4 on the pattern overlay there is a little arrow that points to the right select Patterns then Append and then you will have that pattern from step 6, also if you want you can select the rest of the patterns and append them all. so they are easy to find next time.

  18. Andreas Says:

Really cool text effect, but the directions need to be revised.

Also, I would LOVE to know how to make a transparent effect like this that can be transplanted over other backgrounds (not just black). The ‘copy merged’ and ‘motion blur’ steps tie the black background into this effect permanently.
