Create a Crystallized Header Design in Photoshop

2-9-08Category Filed under Designing & Photoshop Tutorials

Step 1:
Download Header Background File

Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 800×400 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a black color. Now grab the Header Background File and insert it into your canvas. Then under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow blending option.

Step 2:
When you insert an object into a canvas photoshop gives that object its own layer, duplicate the header background layer and go to Filter > Pixelate > Crystallize, set the cell size to 10. Then set the layer’s opacity level to 72%.

Step 3:
Duplicate the original header background without the crystallize filter effect and set the layer’s blending mode to Color Burn.

Step 4:
Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Gradient Overlay blending option to your black rectangle. Then set the layers blending mode to Lighten.

Step 5:
Select your Horizontal Type Tool and above your screen under the options palette set the font family to Arial, regular, 30 pt, sharp and #00A0FF color shade. In a new text layer add your website name.

Step 6:
Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow, Satin, Gradient Overlay and Stroke blending options to your name text layer.
