Golden Typography in Photoshop

1-3-08Category Filed under Photoshop Tutorials & Typography

Step 1:
Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 600×300 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a black color. Now select the Horizontal Type Tool from the tools palette and set the font family to Georgia, Regular, 48 pt, sharp and #EE7000 for color code. In a new text layer type your name or the text you want to decorate.

Step 2:
Duplicate your text layer (Layer > Duplicate Layer) and nudge it to the left and bottom by only 2 pixels. Do this by choosing the Move Tool from the tools pallete and use the arrows on your keyboard to move them by 2 pixels. Now under Layer Style (Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay blending option.

Step 3:
Again make another copy of your text layer from step one and position it as shown on the picture below. Then under Layer Style (Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow, Outer Glow, and Gradient Overlay blending options.

Step 4:
Once again make another duplicate of your text layer from step one and position it as shown on the picture below. Then set the layers blending mode to Color Dodge.

Step 5:
Select the Horizontal Type Tool and set the font family to Font Microsoft San Serif, 12 pt, sharp and #FF7800 for color code. In a new text layer type your slogan. Then under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay blending option.

Step 6:
Now bend your slogan. While your Horizontal Type Tool is selected, on the options palette above your screen find the icon next to the color setting. Click it and a pallette should pop up called Warp Text. Then choose Arch for style, Horizontal and set the Bend settings to your liking.

Step 7:
Thats it your done.
