9-7-07Category Filed under Designing

Step 1:
Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 60×60 pixel canvas set at 72dpi, and white background. Then set your foreground color to a light gray color, color code #EEEEEE.

Step 2:
Create a new layer, draw a light gray square size 24×24 px. If you want a bigger search button add your own size settings.

Step 3:
Under Layer Styles add a gradient overlay blending option to your gray rectangle layer.

Step 4:
Your gray rectangle should now have a gradient effect.

Step 5:
Select your Pencil Tool with a 1 px brush then draw a dark gray, color code #DDDDDD border around your square.

Step 6:
Once again add another border around your square, this time a white 1 px border inside the square.

Step 7:
Select your Horizontal Type Tool from the Tools Window and above your screen under the options palette set the font family to Webdings, 18 pt, strong and a gray color, color code #CBCBCB.

Step 8:
Now type the number four on your canvas which should give you an arrow like shape because of font webdings. Set this arrow like shape on the middle of your squa and your done.
