Create a Simple Gradient Header in Photoshop

Read Tutorial | Download PSD File.

Step 18:
Now on top of your search box add a half white rounded rectangle, same design from step ten. Then under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay and Stroke blending options. Also set the blending mode to Darken on your layers palette.

Step 19:
You can add any links on the glassy tab above your search box. That should complete the header, click here to see the full view.

   I really dont get Stap 6, When I select the layer andmake it 7% opacity it will disapear.

   I used the same technique from step 1 and 2.

   Looks nice tho, but if you could explain me step 6 again, that would be awesome
