Design a Tools Icon in Photoshop
12-25-07Step 1:
Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 100×100 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a black color. Then on your tools palette set the foreground color to a dark red, color code #B50000. Create a new layer(Layer > New > Layer) and using the Circle Tool on your tools palette draw a dark red circle.

Step 2:
Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool from your tools palette then above your screen under options palette choose Fill Pixels, set the radius to 4 px and check anti-aliased. Create a new layer and draw dark red rounded rectangle smaller than your circle.

Step 3:
Now place your dark red rounded rectangle inside the dark red circle on the corner. Then merge both layers by clicking on the ‘indicates if layer is linked’ setting next to the circle layer in your layers window then go to Layer > Merge Linked.

Step 4:
Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Inner Shadow and Bevel and Emboss blending option to your red rectangle shape from step three.
